In Class Reunion, the second book in the Raising the Bar series, Lennon Gallagher remains a strong and relatable protagonist. As an attorney dedicated to fighting violence, she is asked to defend Erin, a former friend accused of murder, which forces Lennon into an agonizing conflict between professional ethics and personal history. From there, the tension builds steadily as Lennon is pulled deeper into a case that threatens not only her career, but her future marriage.
The complicated history between Lennon and Erin feels authentic, filled with unresolved wounds, buried resentments, and lingering loyalty. At the same time, Lennon’s friendship with Miranda Quinn (the protagonist from another series by the same author) provides an excellent balance of steadiness and support. The contrast between true friendship and toxic attachment gives the story emotional depth beyond the murder investigation itself. The legal aspects are gripping and believable, keeping the reader in suspense regarding Erin’s guilt or innocence, and the story forces readers to wrestle alongside Lennon with uncomfortable questions about justice, trust, and obligation. Fans of character-driven legal thrillers and emotionally complex suspense novels will find this a deeply satisfying read. Even as part of a series, this novel can easily stand alone, but I would recommend reading them all.
Sublime Line: “A legal thriller that’s a compelling exploration of friendship, betrayal, loyalty, and difficult moral choices.”
