Chickens Don’t Wear Tutus! tells the story of Lily, a chick who feels she isn’t fancy enough to go to the dance. She becomes creative and makes herself a tutu from mosquito netting. Although initially surprised, her parents feel they need something special too, which encourages Lily to make tutus for them. The end result is a splashy entrance to the Moonlight Chicken Dance. 

This children’s book is cute and charming, sure to delight the youngest children, with illustrations that are colorful, eye-catching, and perfect for toddlers and beginning readers. The book shows children that they can help to make themselves and other people happy by using their imagination to find solutions. The story also demonstrates the fun a family can have together when they support each other, even if it means being a little different from the crowd. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lovely book as a gift for a young child.
